2023 Wheelchair Basketball Challenge: Welcome

Path to Success and London Titans Wheelchair Basketball Club will help of East London Phoenix Team hosted the 5th Annual Fundraising Team Building Wheelchair Basketball Challenge 2023 in support of GB Female Athletes in Disability Sport.

The Team Building Challenge took place at University of East London’s SportsDock. This unique team building challenge once again promised to be a fast-paced, challenging, exhilarating day with lots of FUN and a great way to boost your team’s spirit.

Path to Success (PTS) is one of the only UK Charities who provides financial support to GB Female Para Athletes in preparation for their Paralympic journey in 4 major Disability Sports: Wheelchair Basketball, Para Badminton, Wheelchair Tennis and Para Powerlifting. The funding covers cost of training, equipment, tournament fees and nutrition. With backing of likeminded companies and donors like you, five PTS supported Paralympians brought home medals from Tokyo 2020. Paralympic Sport is a fast-growing world, your company can experience and be part their Path to Paris 2024 Paralympics.

We want to continue ‘MAKING A DIFFERENCE.’ Many disabled athletes have to self-fund majority of their sporting career to compete at the Professional and Paralympic level. The yearly cost of playing as a professional Para Athlete are anywhere from £25,000 -£50,000 per annum.  Unfortunately, there is still a huge gulf in recognition, sponsorship and financial support received by Para Athletes compare to Able Body Athletes. The training, work ethic and commitment to sport is the same across both fields (able and disable) so why shouldn’t the level of investment and sponsorship be the same?

We are taking bookings for our 2024 WCBchallenge. You can support GB Female Paralympians on their Path to Paris Paralympics in various ways:

  • Sign up your team of 6-8 players (per team) to take part in the event. Registration fee £5,000 (includes wheelchairs while playing, coaching by elite basketball players, refreshments, team bibs, and medals)

  • Sponsor parts of the event - Venue Hire, Medals, Basketballs or Refreshments

  • Path to Success can sponsor an athlete with your help and donation of £5,000 to cover their cost of equipment,  tournaments and nutrition.

  • Show your support and generosity with your donation www.pathtosuccess.org.uk

Your Team of 6-8 players made of friends, colleagues, sportswomen and sportsmen will be coached and trained by elite London Titans Wheelchair Basketball players before taking on other teams in a bid to be crowned 2024 Wheelchair Basketball Champion. You will also have the chance to meet and see one of the four British Wheelchair Basketball Women’s Premier League Teams: East London Phoenix in a show match against London Titans elite players.

As a sign of our appreciation, we’ll gratefully acknowledge you in our media wall at the event, our website, newsletter and give you a shoutout on our social media channels. What better way to take part in a fantastic team-building day, get your team engaged in supporting future GB Paralympians, learn a new sport, test your skills against sporting stars, improve your company’s CSR and support a great cause.

We hope you’ll take part in WCBchallenge2024. Your generous support will make a huge difference in inspiring their dreams of bringing home a Paralympic medal.
